Totalitarianism is when a country tries to control the citizens life. Joseph stalin was one leader who use totalitarianism to rule soveit union.The way he did this was by building steel mills, electric power stations, and other industries needed in a strong modern state. He also forced millions of peasants to give up their land and work on collective farm.In a totalitarian state, the government is a single-party dictatorship that controls every aspect of the lives of its citizens. Individual rights count for nothing. Citizens must obey the government without question, and critics are silenced.the five year plan was he demanded a 1115 increase in coal production, 200% increase in iron production and 335% increase in electric power. factories had large display boards that showed the output of workers. Those that failed to reach the required targets were criticized and humiliated. Some workers could not cope with this pressure and absenteeism increased. Then even more repressive measures were being introduced. Records were kept of workers' lateness, absenteeism and bad workmanship. If the worker's record was poor, he was accused of trying to sabotage the Five Year Plan and if found guilty could be shot or sent to work as forced labour.

The great purges it was a period of time when people had been executed or have been in labor camps wich were horible. Joesph stalin was very crude leader. For him to execute inicent people who worked for him and couldnt take it anymore was horible.

some causes of world war 1 , wich use to be called the "Great war' is competting for colonies. which is like africa and china. Another reason is because of the alliance system. which is somthing that developed in europe and splited it into two hostile sides. This happend because their were different poweres involved in agreements. Some other causes are militarism this is when large armies and navies were bulit but both armies had secret battle plans stimulated espionage, which in turn aroused greater hatred and fear. Also Nationalistic Beliefs was another caused of world war one. when every culture had their own belife and felt that their belifs were right and the other countrie's belifs was wrong. this has turned Frenchman against German and Russian against Austrian.

The film Dr.zhivago depict the russain revolution by showing how they came together and agreed to go home form war. Then there were a new law that they had wich is communism, that is when everything were to be equal.the government owned everything nothing was private . Everyone had the same peices of land and as the film showed a one family house was shared with 20 familys if the house was big enough.poeple shared evwerything even though they were issues with food,people were starving and doing anything to get fuel. Which is like heat. people did anything to get what they needed..in their term its sharing but it really looked like stealing.

The russian people wanted a change to spend more time with their familes and they wanted to spend christmas with their families. The revolution happend when the russians were fightting the germans around christmas.The russains wanted not to fight on christmas so some how they got to communicate with the germans,they tries to persuade the germans on not fighting on christmas. The germans agreed. on Christmas day they had a cultral conection they kinda of traded and exchange things and got to know each other, for example the russains intruduced wine to the germans and the germans intruduced chocolate to the russians.THey also had a soccer game wich they had fun. the russains went home after war.

communism happend when czar was rueling no more ,they then had new rules when everything had to be equal.nothing was for anyone for example, in dr zhivago people who now had lived in his house was taking his stuff (plates) no one really had anything of their own cause everyone had to be equal.

When Dr.zhivago came back home people where living in his house. taking his plates (said in ph above). Thats was his first look at communism

During the opuim war,which China and Britain were fighting,Britian traded opuim wich is drugs to China for tea.During all of the trading China's people were gertting adicted to the opuim that the british were trading. China ordered the British to stop trading, they didnt like the fact that the britains were getting richer off of the chinese. The chinese people wich who were addicted to the opuim traded silver and gold. The britains knew that the chinese people were going to get addicted tot he opuim.The britains got the opuim from india. The britians refuse to stop trading.China and british went into war.The britains won because they had bugger ships,bigger guns,they had better technology.

This poem means that they(the white man) needed other men for there army.SO in order to solve that problem they needed other men to join there army.In the second part of the poem is saying that they would do anything just to show their pride,so if they have to take over another country they would do it . In the third part is saying that their almost succesfull. Some of the people who were helping them won't succeed like they are. in order for them too succeed others will not.The forth part of the poem ,i think is saying that now its everyman for themselves, maybe they cant trust people because people will steal, so you have to claim that somthing is yours, so others wont take it.The fifth line is kinda of hard to understand but i think its talking about how some people are taking advantage of other people,some people blame things on other people to get a head. i also think its saying that everything is going out of control.Also i think its saying only one person or ruler can help them all. The sixth part of the poem is saying that eveyrone have different oppinion ,its also saying that they all want freedom and they are depending on somone to give freedom to them. The last part of the poem is saying that now that your growing up you have to have a good image, people will judge you soo you have to leave them with a good impression.

"the Scramble for Africa"

In my own words the term "scramble for Africa" means that other countries for example the european nations, tried to take over africa. They all fought each other to try to take over africa. People from Spain,Italy,France,Germany and even people from portugal tried to take over Africa to fine resources about it's being. The europeans went to look for sources of the Nile River.
It was easy for them to dominate Africa because they had better weapons,even tho they had a hard time knowing where they were going, the europeans had a large tribe and their weapons were more advance. This scramble effected the African people in a good way, because they now learned about the different tools that the other nations have for example they now have copper,rubber and cottin from europe. They learned how to speak different languages. They also have the protection of the other countries.

Mountain of the moon

Mountains of the moon is about two English explorers who went to central Africa to find the source of the Nile River. While looking for the source of the nile river they came upon "Lake Victoria". The two explorers had some africans to work with them, the african learned a little about the tools and the ways that the eniglish explorers had.This Film show the way europeans bought imperialism into africa.For example in one part one of the africans were trying to use the kettle and as he poured the cover for the tea kettle had came off. One of the english explorers showed him how it was properly used.
IT wasnt easy for the English explorers and their tribe to travel, because they didnt have a map to know where they were going. They also had a hard time traveling because their were lions that could of killed them. There were bugs that they didnt know about. They also cought diseases. Some of the africans that worked with the two English explorers stole some of their tools and food. The other africans that were living there, felt threaten when they seen that the english explorers were in their country,so they attacked the English explorers and their tribe. The weapons that the enlgish explorers had helped them survive the attack. They had guns wich really came in handy.

Mathew perry was sent to japan to find trade.He was sent under the command of big ships.The japanese was shocked when they seen the ships.The ships were big and powerd by steam and it also had cannons. When Emperor Mutsushito became the new emperor he decided that if japan is going to allow western ships to stop and reaply supllies for the ships, then they should try to adapt western ways. This is called the Meiji Restoration.
